Ghost of Gaming Shows Past

With the news that Gamesmaster may be coming back to TV and some behind the scenes rumbling in the Citizen Game video team, it’s important to take a step back and remember why modern video games shows tend not to work. If the 90′s-ass video above tells us anything about games in the media (even from this PR crap) it’s that trying to cater to both the common man and the hardcore gamer is a very tough job. Especially when you have terrible hair and fashion sense! Get ready to cringe…

Credit goes to www.everythingisterrible.com for the video. Great site too, check it out.

I remember them giving out horrendously long cheat codes on the TV. Without the internet it was either record the show and pause it to write everything down or buy the magazines, kids today have it too easy.

Seems like a mixture of Nintendo retailer training, some N64 PR and the worst guy&girl combo ever created.

I just got sick a bit.

    What on earth was that?

I know we all look back fondly on Gamesmaster but even that was horrendous on times, true it wasn’t as cringe worthy as what ever that video is but it isn’t far off.

The last gaming show to attempt to a hardcore-casual cross overshow was Thumb Bandits, but its post pub closing time meant it was mainly aimed at a student demographic.

    Mother of God.

What kind of society existed back then? What king of society could allow these fantastic shows to become obsolete, they were perfection, the world simply wasn’t ready.
