The PC port of GTA 4 was arguably the better version. Cheaper too.

Rockstar Games has revealed a little snippet of news that surprised precisely no one — the multi-million-selling GTA series is set to receive a new instalment.

The posting on Rockstar’s website gives away little more than confirmation of the game’s existence, the date we can expect a trailer (November 2nd) and the presumptive title, Grand Theft Auto V. It’s hard to read anything more into the cryptic splash page, although the rendering of the numeral as a dollar bill may indicate a return to the gritty US-styled landscape of Liberty City.

Despite the last game in the series coming out more than three years ago, it seems fans are more than ready to jump back into some street crime. Reddit user Borez summed up the feelings of many when they wrote:

“Oh for fuck’s sake, another 6 months of my life spent in laa laa land stealing cars/helicopters/boats/planes/bikes, shooting random people and roaming around the city for shits and giggles.

/can’t wait.”

We’re chomping at the bit for more info on the new game, which was surely the intention of today’s announcement. Hat tip to Rockstar’s marketing department.
