3DS XL

Nintendo are beefing up the value proposition for the 3DS XL ahead of Christmas this year with the offer of a free downloadable title for owners who register their machine with the Club Nintendo online service before January 15th.

New users will be given a download code which will we valid for any of the following titles: Super Mario 3D Land, Freakyforms Deluxe Your Creations, Alive!, New Art Academy: Learn New Painting Techniques and Share Your Art, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask or Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique. While it’s difficult to imagine anyone going into deal-related apoplexy over New Art Academy, Mario 3D is a top title and the Layton games are always worth a shout, if you can deal with irritating sidekicks.

And don’t worry if you’re already registered; by logging into your account and following the directions given on the offer details page, you’ll be able to get involved in the free game action as well.

Here’s wishing you all a merry Metroidmas and a happy new Zelda, in Iwata’s name, amen.
